Passkeys and authenticator apps

A second step keeps your account safe even if someone learns your password. Admins must have one. Everyone else is encouraged to.

Passkeys

A passkey lives on your phone or computer and unlocks with Face ID, your fingerprint or the device’s PIN. It’s the safest and easiest way to sign in: there’s nothing to type or remember, and it can’t be tricked into working on a fake site. It works only at your Linx’s own address.

To add one: My account → Add a passkey. Give it a name, so you can tell your passkeys apart later.

Authenticator apps

An app like Google Authenticator, 1Password or Authy shows a new 6-digit code every 30 seconds. You type it after your password.

To set one up: My account → Authenticator app, scan the QR code with the app, then type the code it shows.

If a code is refused, check that your phone’s clock is right and try the next code.

Recovery codes

When you add your first passkey or authenticator app, Linx gives you recovery codes. Each works once, instead of your passkey or code, if you lose your phone. Keep them somewhere safe, like a password manager. They won’t be shown again.

Used them up, or got a new phone? My account → Authenticator app → replace it, and you get new codes too.
