What’s new

The newest changes come first. Each Linx update brings its own help pages, so these guides always match the version your server runs.

Any country, and calls abroad to the countries you choose

  • The setup wizard’s Country offers every country. Linx recognises local, mobile, free and emergency numbers the way they’re dialled there, and suggests extension numbers that suit it.
  • Outgoing calls → Country → Change sets it after setup.
  • With Abroad on, Only the countries I choose limits calls abroad to the countries you list. See What phones can call.

Undo for call routing

  • After every change to where calls go, Saved. and Undo show for 10 seconds. See Undo and routing changes.
  • System → Routing changes: the last 50 changes, who made them, See the change (before and after), and Put this back.

Call history

  • Call history in the sidebar: your calls, newest first, missed ones in red, with Call to ring back and each call’s steps (“Rang Sales… nobody answered… left a voicemail”). The number on it counts the calls you missed since you last looked. See Call history.
  • The Dialer’s Recent list now shows your last 5 calls from any phone or browser.
  • Calls in the admin sidebar: everyone’s calls, by person, number, missed and date, with Download (CSV). Reporters see it too.
  • System → Settings, Keep call history: 1 year unless you change it.

Voicemail you can listen to

  • Voicemail in the sidebar: your messages and your ring groups’, newest first, with a number for the new ones. Play, Call back, download, mark as heard or new, delete. See Voicemail.
  • Record your own greeting in the browser (Voicemail → Settings), and one for outside office hours. Turn your voicemail or its emails on and off there too.
  • Ring groups get their own voicemail settings and greetings; People shows each person’s voicemail with Turn off.
  • System → Settings, Keep voicemail: how many days messages are kept (60 unless you change it).

Voicemail

  • Callers can leave a message. A person nobody answers, or who has no phone connected, goes to their voicemail, which says: “The person you called isn’t available. Please leave a message after the tone.” Outside office hours callers hear “We’re closed right now, please leave a message”.
  • Each new message is emailed to its person with the recording attached, once email is set up.
  • Everywhere you choose where calls go there’s a Voicemail section: “Voicemail for Sales”, “Voicemail for Sara Haddad (101)”. A new ring group sends its unanswered calls to its own voicemail.

Office hours and “When someone calls”

  • Office hours in the admin sidebar: the days and times you’re open, and holidays. See Office hours and holidays.
  • Incoming calls: each number has Change, a short wizard for who rings, what happens if nobody answers, and what happens outside office hours, with one sentence saying what a caller gets. A number can ring a ring group now. See Incoming calls.
  • The call simulator (Simulator) asks When, and shows a call step by step.

Ring groups

  • Ring groups in the admin sidebar: several people rung for one call, all at once or one after another, and where unanswered calls go. See Ring groups.

Light or dark, by hand

  • The Appearance button at the top right of every page: Light, Dark or Match this device, kept in this browser. See My account.

Written answers in Help

  • Help can write an answer to a question, from the guides only, if an admin turns it on with a provider: Anthropic (Claude), Ollama on your own network, or another OpenAI-compatible service. See Written answers in Help.

Help pages

  • These guides, inside Linx. They cover installing and moving Linx, everyday calling, admin tasks and keeping Linx running.
  • Help in the sidebar, with a search box that takes plain questions, and Help for this page at the top of every page. See Using Help.
  • Help signing in on the sign-in page, for anyone who can’t sign in.

Admin portal and setup wizard

  • Admins run Linx from the browser: people, extensions, desk phones and phone apps, phone lines, incoming and outgoing calls, and the call simulator.
  • A setup wizard walks a new Linx through the first choices, or restores it from a backup.
  • Passkeys, authenticator apps and company sign-in (Google, Microsoft and others).
  • System pages: status with Restart, backups, alerts and activity.
